Melaka Century Ride (MCR) 2015

When Putrajaya Night Marathon cancelled last Saturday by the organizer due to unhealthy API reading, Fiza invited me to join her in Melaka Century Ride on Sunday. She managed to get race bib for me and off we go to Melaka for race kit pick on Saturday afternoon. At night, Team Fosfit invited us to join them carbo-loading at Bandar Hilir Melaka. Thanks Team Fosfit!

Start line

MCR 2015 was my first Century Ride in 7 years. The first and last Century Ride I participated was Ipoh Century Ride in 2008. It was the longest distance I rode since Ironman 2010. With very minimal training, only 6 rides this year and I cycled less than 10 times for the past 4 years, I managed to finish the event in 5:46 hours despite the hazy & hot weather plus endless rolling hills of the entire route.

The plan was for me to work as domestique for Fiza. I did pull her throughout 3/4 of the course. Fiza is getting stronger lately and it was hard for me to keep up with her. The last 40km I almost bonked out but she was able to continue cycle non-stop while I stopped several times at water stations and enjoying coconut drink by the roadside. She beat me to the finish line by 10 minutes. Well done Fiza!!
