BUTM 2019 50km

Image
Our first race this year since the TMBT last year. Same state Sabah but in a different place, at Kiulu. The view of the 10-15km was fantastic! After that not much to see. However, we managed to take a dip in one of the rivers. So refreshing, although the weather was extremely hot. We finished the race in 15:24hr which is worse than TMBT but we had so much fun. As usual, Fiza left me behind the last 4km before the finish line... :P Enjoyable flight We tried a capsule hotel. Very nice & cheap. We watched Capt Marvel. as well Morning run in KK Race kit pick-up then off to AirBnB at Kiulu Race day. View the first 10km was amazing. Steep elevation in the first half Organizer provided good makan at CP. The weather was extremely hot. More forgiving elevation in the 2nd half, unlike TMBT. We finished in 15 hours ++ We went to Jambatan Tamparuli and had dinner with my RMC junior at KK waterfront. Alhamdulilllah, we always had a great time to...

TMBT 2018 - 50km category

Image
We signed up for the race early this year in February, hoping to be fully prepared for it when the time comes. But a month later Fiza was hospitalized with a back problem and then she was busy with her classes & a new career. I also was buried with tons of workload, I always came home late and had to do my office works at home. It left us with almost no training. We only started training a month before the race with 3 times running a week for about 8-15km mileage without trail running. Yes, we didn't do any trail running at all this year. TMBT is well known as the most grueling trail course compared to any other trail event in Malaysia. There are many people who DNF even for the 50km and 30km category and immediately we regret we signed up for 50km, we think we will be DNFed too. To make it worse I left all my 20 packets of power gel given by Laif at home. Then Fiza's water bladder was leaking too. And I brought the wrong shoes for the race. All recipes for a di...

P100 - Putrajaya 100 Miles (52km category)

Image
The same event I took part last year in 100km category but this time around I ran 52 km only. Those in 52 km & 78 km categories started at nite with 15 hours cut-off. Those in 100 miles and 100 km started in the morning with 32 hours cut-off. I did about 10 hours in this race. Not really the distance but the night time made me very sleepy.

I never know there is a beautiful park exists at Putrajya Precint 11. Good place for photography session, having a picnic, to run or just strolling around enjoy the stunning landscape of the park.Btw, I was there to support another event by Pacat Team. An ultra running event just for ladies. Guys can come to cheer and cuci mata only :P What they need to do is to run 3km loop in the blazing sun for 51km (minimum distance) in 9 hours cut-off to be bestowed as ultra finisher. But because of the view around that park like Salem High Country, I didn't feel the heat at all. Actually, in my mind I think I was in temperate climate zone :P Congrats to all finishers, podium winners and organizer. You ladies are rawk!!! Beautiful Garden Beautiful landscape Beautiful ladies More beautiful ladies Fully supported race Check point  With this opportunity, let's sadaqah al-fatihah to our friend Abang Zack who passed away only two days after we met at r...

Watergate 16 hours

Image
My first event in 2015. Although I had 16 hours cut-off time to clock as many mileage as I could, I only did 50km in the event. 5km loop, I ran like hamster for 9 hours with a long break in the middle eating nasi ayam.... yum yum

Titi 50 (50km ultramarathon)

Image
A week after TNF 100 Thai, I was badly need a recovery run, so I took part in an inaugural event Titi 50, a 50km ultramarathon. Crazy??? Not really, more like stupid..! Actually, I was mistakenly registered this race end of last year not knowing there will be 100km ultra trail a week before. Luckily, I signed-up for 50km category only because I was almost hit a button to register Titi 100 for 100km category. The main reason I took part in this race is to support local organizer. I must applaud the men behind this race Jeff Ooi and Allan Lee for their effort to make this event a successful one. It is not easy to organize a race because I did involve once in Xterra Kuantan in 2010. usual suspects at start line The race started at 12am.... yup midnight. Those in 100km category was flagged off under scorching sun at 4pm earlier and their route stretched all the way to Titi town in Jelebu Negeri Sembilan. This route is popular among the cyclists with steep uphill and the notorio...

TNF 100 Thailand 2014

I signed up for the race 6 months before, thought of doing 50km but after got poisoned by Ray (yeah, we runners poison each other...haha), I was happily signed up 100km even though I wasn't sure about my training commitment. Initial plan was to stay in Bangkok, but due to riot and demonstration, we changed plan go to Pak Chong straight away from the airport. But later I changed my mind and broke up from the group and stay one night in Bangkok. Luckily I have a good friend living and working in Bangkok. He booked a service apartment just for me at The Narathiwas Residence and he didn't even let me pay for it. Thank you Chong! One bedroom apartment at The Narathiwas Residence I got to know Chong when we were candidates for US Military Academy at RMC in the early 1992. I didn't get a placing but he went to the most prestigious military academy in the world the "West Point". He came back and served the nation for 10 years to fulfill his contract. I think ...
