“A divorce no more crushed my heart, in fact I'm glad it happened and I met my new sayang who is lifting up my spirit. I swim, bike, run because she says so. I trained like a mad man being whipped from behind. I compete because I always want to beat my sayang in the race. I have heroes and one of them is my sayang. I'm an athlete, but like nobody else.”... try to be funny ehhh???
Kapas-Marang International Swimathon 2017
The first and last I did this race was in April 2008. I had very bad allergic after the race and MC for 2 days. That's why I never take part in the race any more after that. But this time around Fiza registered for me. Five months prior to the race day I only had one training session in the pool with 2km distance and after the bicycle accident my arms hurt badly if I do repetitive strokes. How am I going to finish this?? My target is to finish it, don't care about the timing. However, with minimal training I got minimal result, I managed to complete the race but missed the cut off in just 2-3 minutes after caught in the strong current. As expected, I was MC 2 days due to skin allergic. :(
Fiza & I planned to go for honeymoon immediately after the wedding but somehow Fiza's kids have to tag along because their father cancelled their school holiday trip together. We felt bad for them, so we decided to cancel the honeymoon and bring them to The Haven in Ipoh instead.
There were 3 blocks here and one of them is manage by a hotel, there was an infinity pool overlooking a lake and a wooded limestone hill. Our unit facing the lake and the view was fantastic. The unit was huge but a bit expensive if book at the hotel. Better check in AirBnb for cheaper option. We should have bring along our other 2 kids Ian & Dmi but they were having fun in Italy with the other side of the family.
I have done River Jungle Marathon series every year since 2011 and I thought of skipping it this year because I think the fee is getting more and more expensive. Luckily, just a day before the race I was offered a bib by OP Monzar because he unable to run the race due to family obligation. Thank you Monzar!
Since this is a marathon event with no timing chip, no placing and no cut off time, I always try to run it as slow as possible. This year I was planned to wear non-running attire and managed to convince Azmil to join me. So, he pretended to be a rubber tapper with headlamp and I became a rubber scraps lorry driver. Both of us chose to wear flannel shirts and shorts.
During the run, Rashid joined us from km10 all the way to finish line. We were so fortunate because the weather unlike past years this year gloomy until the last 2km. Unfortunately, the elevation was the killer, about 10km climbs at two hills Genting Perez and Bukit Hantu. Other than that, this is a fun run to us with…
